Polly Alba is a Bolivian-American visual artist whose work gives form to the unseen—translating sensations, memories, and energetic forces into immersive abstract compositions. Rather than approaching abstraction through formal or conceptual systems, she treats it as a language of intuition—one that listens to the world beyond words. Her paintings are not merely visual expressions, but portals: thresholds where color, gesture, and vibration awaken emotional and cosmological resonance. Through her practice, Alba searches for what lives just beyond perception—the sacred, the fleeting, and the invisible threads that weave us into the cosmos.

Over the past sixteen years, her career has unfolded between Bolivia and the United States, cultivating a cross-cultural approach that blends vibrant color fields, organic forms, rhythmic marks, and dynamic textures. Her compositions move fluidly between bold materiality and atmospheric nuance, forming visual landscapes in flux where the expressive and the elemental converge. For Polly Alba, painting is an act of revelation—a way of humanizing perception and reconnecting with the subtle dimensions of being.

She began exhibiting her work in 2012 with Ineffable, a series later selected for the 2019 Bienal Contextos of the Fundación Simón I. Patiño. In 2021, she opened her own studio/gallery in La Paz, Bolivia—a space dedicated to artistic research, light, and landscape. Her work has since reached international audiences, including an exhibition and residency with the Tiberina Academy in Italy, where she further developed her visual language.

Her current projects—Pachas Inefables and Cuna Pachamama—expand her practice into interdisciplinary territory.

Pachas Inefables, created in collaboration with video artist Maura Velte and researcher Pablo Freudenthal, explores Andean cosmology, ecological perception, and speculative space-time through acrylic painting and 3D video installation. Acting as a sensorial cosmogram, the work invites audiences to reimagine planetary interconnection through the Andean notion of pacha.

Cuna Pachamama reflects a more intimate, speculative gesture. Inspired by Freudenthal’s research on high-altitude neonatal adaptation as an analogue for reproductive risk in space, the project combines painting and poetic narration to imagine incubators as cosmic cradles—bridging ancestral systems of care with contemporary biomedical technologies in high-altitude cities like La Paz.

Earlier series such as Ineffable and Deconstruction demonstrate her signature treatment of abstraction as a transformative force. While Ineffable explores the interplay of light and shadow, stillness and movement, Deconstruction reveals her control of the medium through gestural layering and tension between structure and spontaneity.

Now based in the United States, Andrea Quiroz Alba continues to develop new work that deepens her engagement with abstraction, cosmology, and emotional resonance—creating art that is not only seen, but felt.
